The series, without spoilers
Sultan Achour and his court inhabit a fantasy past filled with recognisably modern concerns. Palace life becomes a setting for comic arguments about language, football and everyday behaviour. Historical costumes frame contemporary Algerian humour rather than a reconstruction of a real dynasty.
