Story, without spoilers
In Riyadh at the end of the 1990s, Dayel is expected to continue his family's occupation as an executioner. He loves Shama, whose mother earns a living performing at weddings. Their families do not regard these professions equally. As Shama faces financial obligations of her own, affection becomes entangled with inherited expectations, social standing and difficult choices.
